1. Storms of My Grandchildren – The Truth about the coming climate
catastrphe and our last chance to save humanity, Hansen, James; 2009;
ISBN 978-1-60819-200-7; This book reads like a memoire with occasional lectures
on climate science. Dr. Hansen is one of the world’s leading climate scientists.
He gives first hand accounts of visits to President Bush at the White House;
how he was occassionally stressed out and couldn’t sleep; and how he is
working to avoid a climate catastrophe.
2. Our Choice-A plan to Solve the Climate Crises, Gore, Albert,
2009; ISBN-10:1-59486-734-8; Vice President Gore presents a very comprehensive
description of the various measures available to reverse climate change. Because
of his status, Gore is able to obtain very complete information on farming practices
and alternative energy sources.
3. The Revenge of Gaia - Earth’s climate crises and the fate of
humanity; Lovelock, James; 2006; ISBN-10: 0-465-04168-X: Dr. Lovelock
is an earth scientists, perhaps the first, and he discusses the properties of
the planets and the history of the earth. With this background, he then describes
the outcome of mankind’s emissions of greenhouse gases.
4. Global Warming Understanding the Forecast; Archer, David;
2007; ISBN: 978-1-4051-4039-3; Professor Archer is a leading climate modeler
and he discusses the science behind the models. He maintains a website “understandingtheforecast.org”
where readers can insert their own assumptions and see results. The science
in this book is at the introductory level for college
5. Cool Cuisine – Taking the Bite Out of Global Warming,
Stec, Laura and Cordero, Eugene; 2008; ISBN-10: 1-4236-0392-3; The book has
recipes and cooking techniques designed to minimize the carbon emissions involved
in the food choices we make. They also support a website globalwarmingdiet.org
